Academic Advising Overview
Academic Advising at Cleveland State University is designed to provide on-going support to all undergraduate students, and to help ensure academic success and graduation. Academic advising is a critical component of the educational experience through which Cleveland State empowers and assists students to develop and implement sound educational plans that are consistent with each student’s personal and academic interests, goals, and career plans.
First Year Advising Office
The First Year Advising (FYA) Office is the first stop for the majority of first year students who enter the University having earned between 0-24 credit hours. Through FYA advising, students are provided with on-going support and assistance during the critical freshman year. By working closely with our freshman students, the First Year Advisors engage regularly with students to help provide a smooth assimilation into the University, to help build a strong foundation of support and success during the first year, and to ensure a smooth transition for students to their appropriate college or program advising office after completing 24 credit hours.
