CSU Presents Keyboard Extravaganza Feb. 15
Featuring Angelin Chang with special tribute to Beverly Payton
Cleveland State University’s Department of Music will present a “Keyboard Extravaganza” featuring students and faculty across the keyboard area with a special performance by Dr. Angelin Chang on Friday, Feb. 15.
The concert will include a broad range of keyboard instruments and works, including traditional favorites, solo classical pieces, dueling pianos with variations on pop music and more. The performance will include a special tribute to good friend of the Department of Music, CSU staff member Beverly Payton, on her retirement.
“Beverly Payton has been a dedicated CSU staff member and brightens our halls wherever she goes,” Chang says. “She's a shining example of the outstanding staff we have here who do excellent work to keep our productivity levels the best they can be.”
The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in Drinko Hall.
Angelin Chang is professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at CSU. She won the 2007 Grammy award for Best Instrumental Solo Performance with Orchestra for her recording of Olivier Messiaen's Oiseaux Exotiques with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony. She was the first female American classical pianist and the first pianist of Asian descent to win a Grammy.
Student performers will include: Mio Arai, Brynna Bailer, Riley Beistel, Matthew Belles, Michael Calabris, Joshua Fadenholz, Charles Fernandes, David Holmberg, Tyler Lisowski, Leah Reinhart, Rebekah Smith, Jarred Sorauf.
