Career Resources
As part of its mission, the Counseling Center provides career/vocational counseling to students. The following links and documents are provided in support of this program. The goal of this program is to provide information to students to help them to explore and reach decisions regarding occupations that best fit their peronalities and to assist them in getting on the career path that will maximize their life satisfaction.
Resources for Investigating Occupations
The Dictionary Of Occupational Titles - This electronic book provides detailed information regarding the tasks performed, the education required, and the skills needed for more than 12,000 occupations. The 1,300-page, 2-volume DOT, allow the user to search through the 28,800 occupation titles, using words or numbers that are associated with these titles. You can navigate through the information by clicking on group or subgroup links.. You can also browse, copy, paste, and output information to any Windows document or Immigration Assistant form or to a printer.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook - is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide information on topics such as the training and education needed to qualify for an occupation, earnings, expected job prospects, typical tasks that workers do on the job, and working conditions. The Handbook is revised every two years.
The Guide for Occupational Exploration - Provides descriptions of skills, abilities, academic and physical requirements, work environment, salary, and outlook. Arranged by 12 major groupings based on interest factors and further subdivisions into work groups and subgroups.
The Occupational Information Network - O'NET (TM) database takes the place of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) as the nation's primary source of occupational information. The O*NET database and related products will help millions of 中国体育彩票APP下载:s, workers, educators, and students make informed decisions about education, training, career choices, and work. The O*NET Project is administered and sponsored by the US Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration.
