Emergency Plans

Emergency situations often present themselves suddenly and escalate quickly.  For that reason, it is crucial that an effective, well-written, and tested Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) be in place before a critical incident occurs.  The purpose of an EOP is to reduce the likelihood of death or injury, minimize the damage caused to University or personal property, reduce panic and confusion by defining and designating specific roles and responsibilities, and to quickly restore the University to its original state of functionality after the crisis has subsided.

Cleveland State University's Emergency Operations Plan is intended to present guidance to faculty, staff, students and visitors of the University by providing specific instruction and strategies designed to mitigate the likelihood of serious injury or property damage during an emergency on campus; however, because each emergency situation has its own distinctive circumstances, individuals are reminded to remain flexible and adaptable to the unique conditions of the current event.

The EOP is a fundamental component of emergency management when used in conjunction with each department's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), Building Emergency Plans (BEP), and the Integrated University Safety Plan.
