National Dean Searches

Campus Shot

Integral to our success is strong leadership throughout the university, especially among our evolving colleges – those existing and those newly realigned. As we look to fill college dean positions, we institute a set of standards that will draw a diverse pool of highly qualified candidates. This process requires the efforts of dedicated search advisory committees, partnerships with nationally recognized recruitment firms and input from stakeholders across the campus community.

OPEN COLLEGE DEAN POSITIONS

We currently have one college dean position open. Detailed information about each can be found on the respective webpage. Please continue to check back for updates and reports on progress.

SEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROCESS

Each member of a dean search advisory committee plays an active role in identifying qualified candidates, recruiting and encouraging nominations and applications, and monitoring the confidential applicant pool to ensure a high level of quality and diversity.

The committee conducts independent reviews to recommend a list of individuals deemed most highly qualified based on analysis of candidate qualifications, strengths and weaknesses. It is essential that the committee retains complete confidentiality throughout the process.

SEARCH FIRM PARTNERSHIPS

To assist our search advisory committees, we partner with search firms nationally recognized for their expertise in higher education leadership searches. The role of these search partners is to finalize position descriptions, advertise, identify and recruit potential candidates for the committee's consideration. Their services are consultative to the university. Decisions regarding specific steps of the search advisory process rests with the search advisory committee, under the leadership of the chair and vice chair, with Provost guidance.

CAMPUS COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Through online and in-person listening sessions, we look to the campus community for input on the strengths and needs of the colleges, the attributes of successful candidates for these important leadership roles and what makes CSU an exciting place for an academic leader to launch a new chapter in their career. With this vital input, we can best identify candidates who align with our mission.

Throughout the dean search process, we will keep our campus community updated on progress and we will seek your input at key decision points. Please review posted materials and, when the time comes, please participate in dean candidate campus visits and interviews. Together we will select excellent leaders for our CSU colleges.
