CSU Recreation Center Summer Swimming
Private swim lessons tailored to any level of swimmer (ages 3+)
Our private swim sessions are for people ages 3 years and older. Instructors are ready to meet with you individually and help you reach your swimming goals. Lessons are scheduled based on pool, instructor, and participant availability. Prior to purchasing a private lesson package, please connect with an Aquatic Staff member to make sure we can properly meet your needs.

Aquatic adaptive personal training (any age)
Water provides a low impact environment for exercise that can be accessible to anyone regardless of needs. Adaptive Aquatic personal training offers a safe environment for individualized instruction, with a qualified instructor, adapted to personal needs. Tailored for individuals with mental and physical special needs wanting to further their aquatic fitness.

NEW! Adaptive open swim Wednesday evening (any age)
Our new adaptive open swim program is designed for a time to allow individuals with intellectual and physical special needs to enjoy time in the water. Under the supervision of a qualified instructor, this will allow for a safe and fun experience! Parents are welcome to get in the water and join in on the fun with no additional charge!

ESS Engineering Student Success
Engineering Student Success Scholars is designed to help underrepresented students succeed in college. A cohort model approach targeting incoming freshmen, transfer students, sophomores and tech students.

Mandel Continuing Scholars Summer Seminar
Students admitted to CSU through the Mandel Continuing Scholars Program will receive a renewable scholarship for a maximum of 4 semesters. To remain eligible for the scholarship, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
The program will provide a stipend for full participation in the Mandel Continuing Scholars Summer Seminar.

Operation STEM (OpSTEM) Summer Institute
The OpSTEM Summer Institute is a two-week summer bridge experience that enrolled Cleveland State University OpSTEM

scholars must participate in.
During the OpSTEM Summer Institute, scholars will:
- Engage in math skills review sessions to prepare them for their fall math course
- Network and bond with the other scholars in the program (check out our cohorts)
- Learn about Cleveland State University's free resources
- Participate in STEM and motivational speaker presentations
- Explore the buildings on campus to have a better sense of direction once classes start
- Receive academic coaching to ensure they have the ideal Fall and Spring schedules
- Participants also receive a $300 scholarship for completion
Dates: Aug. 11–21, 2025
Time: Monday–Thursday from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

More about OpSTEM
During the academic year, OpSTEM scholars meet with their OpSTEM Coach, participate in supplemental instruction sessions led by STEM Peer Teachers (SPT), attend professional development workshops, participate in the Engineering Connections Fair, attend STEM speaker events, and attend social events. OpSTEM Scholars also receive mentoring and individualized attention needed to facilitate the successful completion of their STEM degrees.

Summer Bridge Academy (SBA)
A one-week on-campus program that will help incoming CSU students and their families prepare to begin college in the fall. The SBA provides a residential experience as well as additional incentives and resources that will best support student transition from high school to college.

TRIO L.E.A.D.
A three-week, nine-day immersive experience for new first-time, first generation, Pell Grant-eligible Cleveland State University

students looking to begin their higher educational journey. The TRIO L.E.A.D. program provides students an opportunity to get to know the CSU campus, other incoming students, staff, and important on-campus resources available to them before the academic semester officially begins each fall. Students will get to know their Cleveland community by taking part in leadership, team-building, cultural and uplifting experiences, while meeting members of the Northeast Ohio community who strongly support higher education initiatives. An added bonus for students taking part is the opportunity to earn a one-credit hour as part of the first-year ASC 101 course.
