Wireless
The University's wireless network provides both an encrypted, secure access to the Internet for students, faculty and staff and an unencrypted access to the Internet for University guests.
Wireless networks are inherently less secure than wired ones and should not be used to transmit sensitive information. Signals are subject to interference from other electronic equipment, and may be adversely affected by large numbers of concurrent users.
Wireless access is available in all campus buildings, dorms and large green spaces on campus.
There are currently two wireless networks available:
-
CSUwireless - an encrypted network available for students, staff and faculty only. Your device must support the WPA2 Enterprise authentication standard to connect to this network.
-
csuguest - an unencrypted network available for guests of the university.
**** Special Notices ****
The CSUwireless network requires SHA2 ciphers. SHA1 ciphers are not supported. This means that some older software and devices cannot connect to it.
Below you will find some of the most common devices and operating systems we have tested:
- Windows: All versions older than 10 are not supported.
- MacOS: All versions older than 10.13.x are not supported.
- Apple iOS: Some versions older than 13.x may not be supported.
- Android: Some versions older than 7.x.x may not be supported.
Unsupported device may be upgraded to the latest available version to connect to CSUwireless. As a work-around the csuguest network may be used temporarily.
Any problems or service requests can be initiated by opening an Easy ticket or calling the IS&T Help Desk at 216-687-5050.
